Chaya cream is a typical snack from the state of Yucat\u00e1n, considered one of the most exquisite and popular ones. It is usually served on special occasions such as weddings, quincea\u00f1eras (sweet 15\u2019s), and other events or parties in the region. It is made with chaya leaves, evaporated milk, onion, butter, water, salt, and pepper. The chaya leaves are first washed and boiled for 10 minutes, then blended with the previously cooked butter, onion, and water. Finally, the evaporated milk is added without letting it boil. To serve, a small deep plate is used, and it is enjoyed with \"barras\" (French baguettes). You can try this snack at the traditional restaurant \"La Chaya Maya,\" where you will find a wide variety of traditional dishes from the region. This place has been popular in M\u00e9rida since 2009, enchanting the senses of all who visit. It has two branches, one in the old mansion of Santa Luc\u00eda Park and another in downtown M\u00e9rida.
