Traditional \u201cPan de Muerto\u201d (bread of the dead) is a delight during the Janal Pix\u00e1n festivities, a tradition that has been rooted in both Yucatecan and Mexican culture during the Day of the Dead celebrations throughout the country. Among its ingredients, you can find essences such as vanilla, orange blossom water, sugar, and grated orange peel from the region, among others, that give it that delicious aroma and very characteristic sweet taste. The round shape of the bread represents the cycle of life and death, and the strips with which it is adorned represent the bones and skull of the deceased. Leaving this offering on the altar symbolizes the remembrance of a deceased loved one, and food for the visiting souls. Nowadays, we can find this delicious bread with the traditional \"queso de bola\" cheese, commonly used in Yucatecan dishes. This can be achieved by spreading chocolate on top of the bread and sprinkling it with the \"queso de bola\" cheese as a topping or by putting it as a filling with the bread cut in half.
