The community of Ek Balam allows you to discover the richness of the Mayan communities through active participation in some of their daily activities, in this case, making tortillas by hand and a simple but very traditional dish, eggs \"encamisados\". After visiting the Unajil Ek Balam tourist stop, which translates to \"house of the black jaguar,\" you will head to the community to walk through the streets of this wonderful town and spend time with a family that will welcome you to participate in the activity.<\/p>

In the hand-made tortilla workshop, you will see the corn process and make your own tortilla by hand, as well as the \"encamisados\" eggs dish, which is considered one of the oldest recipes in traditional Yucatecan cuisine. Don't miss the opportunity to learn about and be part of the daily customs of this community, where in addition to learning in the workshop and spending time with them, you can see their home and backyard, an important space for growing vegetables and raising backyard animals such as chickens, turkeys, pigs, and others.<\/p>
